grand entrance

I’m a sucker for dramatic entrances and this entranceway for the divine restaurant Casa Oaxaca in Oaxaca city, wins my heart for being completely beautiful in a totally modern way, seamlessly mixing old and new. The food is also just as smart. The dish I still can’t get out of my head was a modern mexican take on caprese salad, pieced together instead with fresh queso Oaxaca, bright read roma tomatoes and a pesto made from chapulines aka, small Mexican grasshoppers. I keep meaning to recreate this and once I do, I will definitely post pics and a recipe.
